Subscriber Email - Breaking News - Browns Trade WR Braylon Edwards to Jets

Hello,

You've probably heard the news out of Cleveland that the Browns have traded WR Braylon Edwards to the New York Jets. The Browns have received Chansi Stuckey in exchange.

I think that this instantly increases the value of Browns WR Mohamed Massaquoi. He had a big Week 4 with 13 targets (2nd in the league for Week 4) that he converted into 8 catches for 148 yards.

This big game coincided with Derek Anderson starting at QB Week 4. Anderson has had plenty of reps with Massaquoi working with the 2nd team and the chemistry was evident.

My thinking is that the Browns saw something they liked and decided they could trade Edwards away. This likely elevates Massaquoi to the #1 WR option for the Browns. Stuckey should play a complimentary role.

The Browns will likely be up and down this season, but they should be playing from behind a lot and as long as Anderson retains the starting QB job, Massaquoi will likely have opportunity here.

If you have an expendable player on your bench, pick up Massaquoi now.

As far as other fantasy impact, I think it will take a little time for things to develop for the Jets. Braylon Edwards gives them an upgrade at WR, but he's got to learn the system and get his timing down with QB Sanchez.

If you are a Sanchez owner, this could help you out down the road. That is if Edwards doesn't get suspended for his recent altercation.

What this does for Edwards is anybody's guess. He will be in a better offense, but he's got to break in as the new kid. I don't think this instantly is an upgrade for him.

I hope your season is going well. Thanks for subscribing to FantasyStrategies.com and good luck this week!
